Learning the Anatomy

Artist: LIN Yunfei Ivy, MBBS 2029

Preface: Hastily putting on gloves and assembling scalpels, as tissues were detached layer by layer, sentiments were detached along. It is almost a tacit convention that as we step into the dissection room, we desensitize ourselves and restrain our thoughts so that all we see are the anatomical structures inside. Yet as I saw the feebly dangling hand with fingers curled up, my heart still jolted, as it resembled so much of the hand of a sleeping person, reminding me that this was once a lively person just like me, my classmates beside, friends, and family.
